The Shocking Truth: The Third Planet is a Beach Boys 45

Friday, April 21st, 2006

In the second panel of today’s strip, the third planet in V3’s system was drawn by tracing the center hole of an extra copy of the Beach Boys’ mid-70s top 10 hit version of Chuck Berry’s “Rock And Roll Music” (with “The TM Song” on the flip side) that I had on the shelf near the drawing supplies. Two days ago the planet was drawn (or at least part of it was) by tracing the outer edge. And it was also used on Sunday, where the outer edge was the rumormongers’ planet, and the center hole was the gas giant off in the distance. The 45 was not harmed in the production of any of these strips. (Though like I said, this was the extra copy – a little worn. I wouldn’t have used a good one for this!)

…In case anyone was wondering!

Alternate Object

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

There were two slightly different strips I had in mind for today – the one I decided to go with is the one above, and the one I didn’t – where the rumormongers get more specific about what sort of object the third planet is – is up (in color!) as one of today’s bonus strips. The other is a bad translation of today’s strip, which gets better as it goes along. Thank You to everyone who’s been voting for Station V3!

Double Sprite

Today’s bonuses are two more sprite-style strips following up on yesterday’s – Linton has a plan to get the stolen money back, and how it works out!

Secure Bonus and Bad Translation

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Today’s bonus strips: A reject-style strip where Linton got one of those banking scam emails and is now attempting to explain to Prentis what happened to the money, and a bad translation of today’s strip. (Don’t you think us you would have found it to date?)

What an offer…

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

I’ve been getting some of the junk bank scam emails going around lately. Today, “on behalf of all this years of banking,” I got an email offering me a whole $30 to expand my “curent” business or invest in a new (very) small business. (Or spend.) All I have to do is click a link that doesn’t match what it says it is, fill out a form, and they’ll add the $30 to my account. At a bank I don’t have an account at. Very generous of them!

(But I think I’ll pass.)
