And in conclusion…

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Yesterday’s guest strip was from Robert Cook of The Mansion of E (it wouldn’t be a proper guest week here without his contribution!), and guest week concludes today with a guest strip from Mark Mekkes of Zortic. I’d like to thank them again, and everyone else (Krishna Sadasivam, Kristina Foster, Aaron Lewis, the Fuzznuts crew, and Andreas Gustafsson) who contributed to this year’s guest week!

In other guest art news, there’s a strip (well, one big panel) I drew up now at Jump Leads!

And in unrelated news, I’d like to thank the “Anonymous Benefactors” who have been helping transcribe the Station V3 archives at Oh No Robot – over 82% of the strips are transcribed and searchable now!

Arthur C. Clarke

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Sir Arthur C. Clarke died earlier this week at the age of 90 – the last of science fiction’s “Big Three.”

I’m not sure what to say besides the obvious (he’ll be missed), so here’s a picture of a monolith instead:

Get enough of them together in the right spot and they’ll ignite Jupiter!

Adventures in Podcasting

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Last month, Ben Paddon of the comic Jump Leads invited me to join him, Tauhid Bondia (Good Ship Chronicles), Jim Francis (Outsider), and Mark Mekkes (Zortic) weekly for a sci-fi webcomic podcast, which we’ve named PodWarp 1999.

The first installments of the podcast are now online for all to hear – if you’re the sort of person who enjoys sci-fi and/or webcomics (and I’m assuming most of you reading this probably are!), listen to an episode or four and let us know what you think!

Mike Smith, R.I.P.

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Mike Smith, the lead singer and keyboard player of the Dave Clark Five, has died of pneumonia at the age of 64, less than two weeks before the group’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Related: Pomegranate

Friday, January 25th, 2008

As some of you probably know, LiveJournal has little “SnapShot” windows that pop up to give a preview of the page a link leads to. In addition to the preview, it lists some related searches. At the moment, for a link to the Station V3 book for sale at Lulu.com, it lists “Pomegranate” as one of the related searches. I’m not quite sure how it came up with that! But if you’re looking for a book to read, I’d recommend the V3 book instead of the pomegranate. On the other hand, the pomegranate would probably taste better. So if you’re hungry, eat the pomegranate. (While reading the book, for best results!)

It also listed “Dark Shadows” and “Blue Whale” as related searches. Related to each other, yes, but I’m not sure how they connect to Station V3! (Or the pomegranate.)
